My Story
About Edgar.
I was born in Bogotá, Colombia and arrived in Georgia at seven years old with everything still ahead of me. I grew up in the American South, left at twenty-one, and spent years moving toward wherever the world was most alive — Brussels, where I studied International Law and worked for the President of the European Parliament. Washington D.C., where I walked the halls of Capitol Hill for a local congressman. Morocco, where I lived in Fes and Rabat long enough to let the light and the chaos change me. Along the way I managed Microsoft's real estate portfolio as an analyst at CBRE, trained as a boxer, painted, sculpted, and traveled to the edges of what I thought I knew about myself.
I picked up a camera in recent years but art has always been the thread running through everything — painting, sculpture, the way beauty has always functioned for me less as an aesthetic and more as a compass. I shoot and write the way I've always moved through the world: with curiosity, with intention, and with as much truth as I can hold in a single frame.
I am currently building Fields of Devotion — a photography book documenting ordinary people living with extraordinary devotion to something greater than themselves. Fifty percent of everything raised goes back to the communities I photograph along the way. I have lived enough lives to know that the only one worth keeping is the one that gives something back.
